For generations of mobile devices, Pixel has been the king when it comes to astrophotography. Whilst all manufacturers try and knock the pixel off the top, we, the consumers, are the winners. It cant be argued that the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a sensational camera setup. But it has always been argued that its not great for astrophotography. In this video we see if thats still the case.
I took RAW files with the Pixel at the same time. These would have also required editing, making this process even longer for the Pixel. The result was more stars than both the Pixel Astro mode JPEG and the iPhone Pro RAW. However, there is a significant problem with star trails. I would shoot either iPhone ProRAW or the Pixel Astro mode before doing this.
